Sara Martone obtained her Master's degree in Biology from the University of Insubria (Varese) in April 2004. She began her professional career as a research fellow at the Mario Negri Institute (Milan), where she worked on neurological diseases, focusing particularly on multiple sclerosis. She later moved to the Infectious Diseases Department at Sacco Hospital (Milan), where she earned her PhD from the University of Milan in December 2010. During this time, she gained her first experience in flow cytometry by studying peripheral blood lymphocyte populations in HIV patients. Building on this expertise, she joined the flow cytometry core facility at IFOM ETS in 2010 as a technician. In her current role, she is primarily responsible for sample acquisition and analysis, as well as organizing training courses for internal users.
