Dr. Denis Schapiro is an IFOM Group Leader, Managing Director of the Translational Spatial Profiling Center (TSPC) and Research Group Leader at the Medical Faculty of the Heidelberg University focusing on spatial omics technologies and analysis. He is also co-founder and the current president of the European Society for Spatial Biology (ESSB) e.V.

Tumor Spatial Biology

Our research focuses on the development and application of spatially resolved (single-cell) technologies to understand how tumors evolve, evade immune control, and respond to therapy. Cancer is not only a genetic disease but an ecological system of malignant, stromal, and immune cells interacting in space.
