Linking metabolism to cancer progression: feeding the beast.
Kristina Havas Cavalletti - 14 dicembre 2017
You are what you eat, so choose wisely. It is becoming increasingly apparent that what we eat not only impacts upon our size, but that the quantity and quality of the food we eat is an important factor for our health. This is not surprising, if we consider that every cell of our body is created from the building blocks supplied by the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe. But how does a cell extract nutrients and energy from the food we eat? Do different cells require different sources of energy? And how do these processes, that we refer to as cellular metabolism, contribute to age related-diseases, such as cancer? During this seminar, we will explore this topic, specifically focusing on the role of metabolism in breast cancer initiation and progression.
