RIKEN-IFOM Joint Laboratory for Cancer Genomics (in RIKEN Japan) headed by Yasuhiro Murakawa invites applications for postdoctoral positions
Yasuhiro Murakawa group in the RIKEN-IFOM Joint Laboratory for Cancer Genomics invites applications for postdoctoral positions.
The FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM) in Milan has initiated a collaborative alliance with RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences. The lab is located in RIKEN Yokohama Campus in Japan.
The candidate will work in a highly international, multidisciplinary and stimulating environment recognized for functional genomics studies (including the international FANTOM project) as well as for its top-class high-throughput technological platforms.
We aim to decipher cis-regulatory code governing the transcriptional landscapes of malignancies and to gain a fundamental insights into cancer development and maintenance. We are particularly interested in enhancer function on the control of gene expression. Furthermore, through integrative analysis of functional genomic data with clinical information, we explore molecular therapeutic targets and biomarkers.
Our group has a strong mentality to develop original technologies that can solve paradigms that cannot be otherwise solved. We have developed a novel method to identify and quantify active enhancer elements at single nucleotide resolution (to be published). In collaboration with hospitals, we apply our original technologies to hundreds of tumor specimens and comprehensively identify differentially regulated enhancers, super-enhancers, genes and long non-coding RNAs. The candidates are encouraged to further develop a series of original technologies to construct comprehensive transcriptional networks.
The candidate should be strongly motivated and independent. Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. in the field of cell biology, biotechnology, genomics, or computational biology. Experience in one of the following areas is preferred: Chromatin topology (Hi-C, ChIA-PET), CRISPR-based screening, Cancer Genomics. The ability of the candidate to work between wet (experimental biology) and dry (bioinformatics, computational biology) will be positively considered. The work location is RIKEN Yokohama Campus in Japan, and the competitive salary is paid by IFOM. Professional spoken and written English is mandatory and knowledge of Japanese language is not essential. The position is initially for three years, renewable. The Position is open immediately and will be closed when the candidate is identified.
Candidates are requested to send their CV with addresses of two referees and a brief statement outlining key areas of expertise and motivations to yasuhiro.murakawa[@]riken.jp
